"It is a concept album about Sir John Franklin's arctic expedition that ended tragically in 1846. The symphonic black metal disc contains 9 bitterly cold tracks with a running time of 53 minutes and 19 seconds.
The black metal thunderstorm with piano accompaniment starts with the title track "The Expedition". The listener is immediately spoiled with symphonic sounds that allow a very harmonious sound to flow into the extreme music. The tempo changes again and again within the tracks, whereby the comfort zone is more likely to be found in higher regions. Vocally they alternate between clear vocals, spoken interludes and screams. The song “Icewind” also features a female voice from guest musician Noga Rotem. All in all, a very coherent Black Metal album is offered, which I would like to recommend to fans of older Dimmu Borgir discs. ... Conclusion: With Daidalos, Tobias Püschner creates a symphonic extreme and black metal masterpiece. “The Expedition” is an absolute genre highlight that you should definitely include in your collection!" 10 / 10 (www.ammo-underground.at)
