Black Messiah
Viking Black Metal (GER)
Black Messiah was founded in 1994 as a pure old-school Black Metal band. The songs from this era paid tribute to Black Metal idols like Venom, Celtic Frost, Bathory and Possessed. With tracks including Southside Golgatha, Goats Pray, Cathedral of Hell and Black Messiah all appear on their 1995 demo. In 1997 Singer Zagan recorded the first album "Sceptre of Black Knowledge" with drummer Nabahm (from Innana Unveiled and Goat of Mendes). Some of the albums tracks including Sceptre of Black Knowledge, Pagan Winter, and Diabolic Rites are more old-school, with songs like Old Gods, Crusade of the Blackened, and Queen of Darkness in the style of 90s black Metal. The album showcased a number of guest musicians most notably former Sodom-Kreator guitarist Frank "Blackfire" Gosdzik, contributed to the creation of the first Black Messiah album...
..The typical style of Black Messiah is the hard but melodic guitar playing. This combined with traditional pagan elements which incorporate a mandolin or violin.
In spring 2005 the band released their second album "Oath of a Warrior". With this release they managed to take an important step into international music business. Responses have been predominantly good and resulted in club gigs, some festivals and a small European tour with Irish pagan metal band Cruachan.
The band released their third album "Of myths and legends" at the end of 2006. In 2007 Black Messiah played a number of shows and Festivals (Summer Breeze, Ragnarök...etc.). In fall they embarked on a second European tour with the German band "Odroerir" and "TYR" from the Faroese islands.
